Our Project

“Safe-Chat vision is a world where survivors are able to safely access critical & local resources at a touch of a button.”

“In 1978 the Women’s & Children’s Crisis Shelter (WCCS) was founded on the belief that everyone has the right to a violence-free environment; that violence, be it physical, actual or threatened, emotional or psychological, has no place in healthy relationships. Since then we have diligently served victims of domestic violence: women, men, and their children. As part of our program we collaborate with other agencies to improve overall health, wellness and economic stability; provide culturally relevant and supportive intervention; and educational information for the prevention of family violence.  We understand, and we know it can be difficult to reach out about abuse that is going on in your life. Picking up the phone or meeting with someone in person is not always an option.

Safe-Chat is a pilot project created by the Women’s & Children’s Crisis Shelter (WCCS) with the goal to provide online one-on-one chat session with a WCCS domestic violence trained advocate. The advocates are here to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and services to those who have experienced abuse, violence and crimes in a intimate relationship. An advocate can talk to you about your situation, ask questions and help you explore your options. Advocates can also provide information, referrals, as well as connect you to other WCCS services.
